training

My half marathon training starts this week, today to be exact. Perfect timing for this to be the hottest week of the summer yet. The runs during the week aren't that bad or too different from what I normally do. The long weekend run is another story. Like this Saturday on the schedule is 8.5 miles at an easy pace. Bam! First week of training and already an 8.5 mile run. And to me, it doesn't matter at what pace you run it, 8.5 miles is still a lot. It preparation for that first long run this past Saturday I ran 6.2 miles at about a 9:30 mile pace (which was pretty darn good for me). It was hot and I got chaffed. And afterwards, I was just so worn out. I could have slept for hours if given the opportunity.

Good luck with your training! Get some Body Glide or use good old vaseline for the chaffing!
