Tuesday afternoon we got into the car and headed down to Disney World. We are so fortunate that it's only about a 2 hr and 15 minute drive from our house here in Jacksonville. Check in @ The Animal Kingdom Lodge wasn't until 3p so we didn't rush to get there much before that. Upon check in they called Owen "master Owen", which I thought was really cute and they were pretty much hitting the nail on the head. After getting our room, which was located on the same floor as the lobby which I love, we walked around and checked out the place and some of the neat animals they have on property. Giraffes, Zebras, buffalo, flamingos, etc. We then boarded the bus for Downtown Disney b/c we had 5pm dinner reservations at "T Rex Experience". It's just like Rainforest Cafe, same owners, but with all dinosaurs. Owen freaking loved it! He was very particular about Chris not putting his hands in any of the dino's mouths though which was hysterical. He'd say, "no daddy, dinosaur going to eat you." Connected to T Rex was a "Build a Dino" (which is "Build a Bear" but only with dinosaurs) so Owen made a dino and he insisted that his dino have 2 hears inside instead of just 1. Funny. After dinner we walked around and shopped and played and what not. Bed time for all 3 of us was a very late 9pm. The next day Owen was up at 7am sharp which allowed us to eat some breakfast and be at the Magic Kingdom when the gates opened. It was not too crowded at all. For future reference, this was an awesome time to be visiting Disney, weather wise and crowd wise. There were lots of European families there we noticed. We went in some of the mainstreet stores and bought a few souvenirs like a stuffed Mickey and Mickey Mouse ears with Owen's name on the back. We rode rides until about noon. Owen loved the teacups, driving race cars with Chris, the Barnbuster roller coaster, the train and Winnie the Pooh. We watched the parade at noon, ate some lunch and then headed back to the hotel to swim, see more animals and take a nap. After a not long enough nap we ate again and headed back to the Magic Kingdom for more Disney fun and again we were in bed that night by about 9pm. The next morning Owen was up promptly at 6:15 and clearly he was still tired and lacking a few hours of sleep. We played at the AK Lodge playground, got some breakfast and did more animal sight seeing. We LOVED The Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was awesome and we highly recommend it. Although it's in the same deluxe category as The Polynesian and The Grand Floridian, it was not as expensive per night as either of those. We checked out by 11 and headed back down to Downtown Disney for more shopping and lunch. We had a great trip! Just a couple pictures to share b/c I already put pictures on Facebook and emailed them out as a Shutterfly album to lots of friends and family. If anybody is reading this who isn't on Facebook and wants to see the whole album just leave a comment and I can email them to you.
