Gate River Run

So the Gate River Run was yesterday. It was a blast, literally. Boy was it chilly (by FL standards at least) and windy. Air temp was about 55, but as the morning progressed, it got worse and worse with gusts up to 45 mph. Over 14,000 people ran this year. I didn't run fast, but I did run it without walking and I finished. The finish line was on the field where the Jacksonville Jaguars play and as you were crossing you could look up at the Jumbotron and see yourself. Spectators were albe to sit in the stadium seats and cheer people on. It was very cool. I can see how races are addictive. I can't wait to do another.
I have been wanting to get Owen a little play kitchen forever. Everytime we go to Pottery Barn Kids he loves to play with their retro kitchen but Chris would shoot me if I spent that much on a play kitchen for him to just beat on. Owen (as I am sure all toddlers are) is so rough on his things. Well today I went to Toys R Us and bought him one (in the Sunday ad, it is $20 off this week, it's the Little Tikes Learning Interactive Kitchen). Of course I choose to do this today with Chris out of town. He is somewhere (I forget the city name) south of Orlando and will be back late tomorrow night. I am proud to say that I put it together all by myself. Owen was asleep already so he is going to be excited when he gets up and sees it in the morning. I am sure tomorrow I will post a pictures of him "cooking" something.
Speaking of Owen sleeping (knock on wood) daylight savings time change has been okay and he took his nap on time and went to bed on time today. I remember in the Fall how the time change was a disaster in our house and I suspect that it might be again when it changes back in the Fall.

Way to go with the race!

I hope Owen loves his kitchen...Chase and Addy have the same one and spend so much time playing with it. They don't follow the directions that the lady says but they have a blast playing anyway!

Congrats on your run! That is some freakish Florida weather, but way to go on finishing :)
