Oh my goodness did we have a great time on vacation in Colorado. It snowed everyday, big big change from my Florida weather that I love so much. We ate a ton of good food, drank wine and ran around and had fun. If I had the energy (I am struggling to catch up with everything since getting back: laundry, sleep and Owen) to type everything about the trip this blog would be a mile long so I will just run through some of it briefly.
Leaving out of Jacksonville Friday morning our flight was delayed so we ended up missing our connection from Atlanta to Vail, CO. This meant that we then went from Atlanta to Dallas, Dallas to Denver and then took a 2.5 hour shuttle from Denver to Vail. Didn't get to the resort until after midnight CO time, which meant it was after 2 our time and we had been up for 22 hours. Oh, and of course our bags didn't make it.
Saturday, since we had no luggage, was a relaxing day for us. We layed around the resort staring at the skiers on the ski slops and hit the fabulous spa for an hour massage. I went to the boutique and bought a cute top and a pair of undies (that cost me over $120 mind you) to get me through the afternoon in hopes that our bags would be arriving soon. They did, we had them in enough time to shower and change before dinner. That night we had dinner at a German place in town named Ludwigs. Very good food.
Sunday we went dogsledding and we had dinner at this awesome cabin like restaurant named Saddleridge. The dogsledding was such an awesome experience- except for how car sick I got in the shuttle on the way to the place. The dogs pretty much just bark and bark until you get them running. It snowed the whole time too but I was very bundled with about 6 layers and I truely did not get cold at all. After dinner we sat out by the fire pit and roasted marshmallows.
Monday I had some serious altitude sickness. My symptoms included: nausea, headache, hunger, irritability and being so tired but unable to sleep. Chris went with some others on a 4 hour snowmobiling adventure while I hung back at the hotel. I ate some nachos and sat in the lobby reading and talking for over 3 hours. That evening we ate at Spago, Wulfgang Pucks restaurant, and it was amazing. I had this lobster soup and Hong Kong salmon for dinner. Chris has shashimmi and lamb. That place was so good. Monday the sky dumped almost a foot of snow on us.
Tuesday we shuttled back to the Denver airport and luckily, had no issues with delays to speak of. But with the time change back 2 hours we still didn't arrive home until 10pm.
I missed Owen while we were gone so much it hurt. I was okay Friday and Saturday- but
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were sad:( We also got to meet and hang out with Olympic skiier Johnny Mosley.
